What causes Tinnitus?
There are many causes of tinnitus. Hearing loss is a very common cause of tinnitus. As the severity of hearing loss increases so does the prevalence of tinnitus. Dr. Andi will start the tinnitus assessment with a thorough case history. This will allow Dr. Andi to understand your tinnitus and your perception of it. Self-reporting assessment scales can be helpful for determining how tinnitus is affecting your daily life. The Yost Hearing Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation is another important part of your tinnitus assessment. This will allow the Dr. Andi to determine if your tinnitus could be related to hearing loss. All the information gathered in the tinnitus assessment will assist in the next step of tinnitus management.
Step 3: Tinnitus Management
Wearing hearing aids, treats the hearing loss and provides masking relief with the app.
Decreasing the usage of alcohol, caffeine, salt, and tobacco.
Avoiding silence - play soft music, turn on a fan, or use a tinnitus relief app.
Developing healthy habits such as moderate exercise and consistent sleep.
Practicing hearing loss prevention & wearing hearing protection.
